Grace Abounding Farm Photo Update!

Okay Miriam...here you go!! These are just for you! We say...fix up that shed, and get your chicks asap! There's nothin' like fresh eggs!


I just had to add photos of baby Kendra...she's soooo cute!


These are the 1st set of chicks we got. There are 14 of them. 8 Americaunas--4 Wyandottes--and 2 Delawares

This is the second set of 12 we got. They are all called Production Reds. They are super layers all year long! They are two weeks younger than the 1st set. It's amazing how quickly they get their feathers, though!

Introducing our newest "kid"----Kendra Mae--Born May 21st 11:00 am--

There's Spring in the air here at the Grace Abounding Farm of the Winslow family. That's our new farm name, and it is so true! The Grace is abounding from our heavenly father! New life is everywhere. In our shed we have 26 baby chicks. They are adorable! Today we welcomed our newest "kid". Born to Sally Mae this morning.

Last time Sally had kids, two years ago, she had triplets. Two boys and one girl. This time it was only one, a girl. Oh soooo cute she is! She looks just like the last girl that Sally had which we named Rosie Mae. We have decided to keep Kendra and and be able to milk her next year! Everyone is soooo excited! The coolest part was that they got to watch Kendra being born. Last time, Sally had her triplets while we were gone for the day.

Happy 6th Birthday Sweet Nicole!

What a blessing it has been to have Nicole in our family since February! What fun to celebrate her 6th birthday! Take a look at the photos and you can just feel her joy! She announced:  "This was my best birthday ever!"...A special bonus was having Uncle Michael here during her actual birthday!

The table is set and ready for the birthday girl to awaken!In case you couldn't tell, Nicole's favorite color is purple!

On the breakfast menu:  Giant chocolate chip pancake, bacon, cherry juice and a taste of coffee! (Hey...the coffee cup is part of the place setting and it has become a birthday tradition to offer a taste of coffee!)

Just had to include this photo of Mike lounging. Maddie was doing his laundry and he needed something to wear so I offered him some jammies of mine. He hadn't worn p.j.'s since childhood! Doesn't he look comfy while enjoying his technology??

Nicole also enjoyed an early birthday party on Mother's Day at Grammie Linda's!

Thank you Grammie for including Nicole!

All in all it was a wonderful birthday for our littlest family gal...Nicole! We love you!
 

Do you Remember Model Rockets??

If you ask my beloved husband this question, he would most definitely say, "YES!". He loved model rockets as a kid. He built and launched many, including one with a camera inside to capture photos on the way down! Cool, huh?

Well...Glenn thought for Jon's 8th birthday it was time to show him the rocket ropes, along with Junior. So...Glenn bought a kit with two rockets and all of the engines he needed, etc. Jonathan was super excited! Junior, too! Although neither of them knew much about rockets, they were sure this time with Dad was going to be so much fun! This Mama agrees! They set about over several evenings to build and paint the rockets and then we were ready for the big launch!

Tuesdays With Grammie Continue!

We are so blessed to continue to spend Tuesdays and Wednesdays with Great Grammie Winslow. She's 91, and these are precious, precious times spent with her. She comes for dinner on Tuesdays and stays through Wednesday afternoons. 

She loves to be part of our homeschooling here, and often has many comments and things of interest to share.

Today, Junior decided to make some really fancy paper airplanes that we had a kit for. He made two beautiful ones, and Nicole loved them.

Grammie was reading in the living room and our persnickity black cat Sheba loves to perch on her lap. Grammie is a great companion for her! I listened from the kitchen when Nicole went into the living room and announced..."Come here Grammie, I'm going to teach you how to fly these airplanes! Grammie was such a good sport. She examined the airplanes and then did everything Nicole asked her to do, including standing up to throwing them the right way, and then Nicole said..."Now Grammie, I'm going to show you how to throw them backwards!"..."Oh my."...Grammie said..."Backwards???"  Then Nicole proceeded to show her how to throw the airplanes over her head standing backwards! Grammie was a good sport for sure!





 We sure do treasure our "Tuesdays (and Wednesdays) with Grammie...for such a time as this! These are truly what memories are made of!

Everyone needs an "Uncle Michael"!!!!

We have just had the most wonderful visit from my dear brother Mike. He lives in Hawaii with his wife and son. His business travel brings him to the North East occasionally, and we love it when he combines his trips with some R&R in our home state of NH!

We picked him up at the airport on Friday afternoon last week, and he spent until this morning with us here in Barnstead. He was able to go to church with us on Sunday. This was such a treat! He then is headed to our other brother's home in VT for a few days, and then to our folks home in Freedom for the weekend. We'll see him again on Sunday at our Uncle Bob's burial in Freedom. He'll literally squeeze a ride home with us on Sunday, and spend the night with us, and we'll bring him back to Manchester airport on Monday for his flight to his next business trip to Las Vegas.

He stays in our guest bed in the boys room. Which they LOVE having him there! He's the king of technology, and so the kids loved playing on his I-Pad. He took Jon out to Border's yesterday and then out to lunch, and now he's Jon's..."bestest friend in the whole wide world!"....Grace shed tears when he left today, even though we'll see him in a few short days. She said..."I think he's one of my favorite uncles!"...now mind you, she only has two here in America. He started a read aloud with us all. He read two chapters from The Wind in the Willows. He's an amazing reader! He loves to do all the voices and does an incredible job. He could do it professionally. He bought us our own copy of The Wind in the Willows. He said he'll read another two chapters before he goes, and then it may take him a few years to finish the rest. The kids won't mind waiting a bit! He also read two chapters from Winnie the Pooh, too. The kids said to me..."Mom...you must hear him do the voice of Winnie the Pooh!"...and I did. It was great!

He taught Maddie and Grace how to play cribbage, and we had a cribbage tournament for the past two nights. Grace and I won each time! Wow! He played Trivial Pursuit Steal (a new fast, card game) with Glenn and I each night. No surprise that Mike is the reigning Trivia champion! He had that title when we were kids, too!

Nicole is the president of his fan club now. She just LOVES him! Madelyn is mesmerized by his stories and his read alouds, and Junior, well, he just thinks he's down right cool! Elisha said..."When is Uncle Michael coming again?"....I must admit, I asked him that, too! We hadn't seen him since last August! That's too far apart for visits as far as this big sis is concerned!

He even spent some time jumping on the trampoline with Jonathan and Nicole! Of course they thought he was the greatest thing ever! Hopefully he won't be too sore from that fun time! :) :)



Well Uncle Mike, Hands Down....You're the Best and We love you! Most especially this pyramid of Winslow kiddos and their Mama and Papa, too!

Remember Pin Curls???






How fun it was to relive my childhood and do pin curls in my girlie's hair on Resurrection Eve. My Mom used to do pin curls for me when I was a gal. Of course the girls loved the scarves on their heads before bed! Can you tell??

We had some good, clean, old fashioned fun!
