Today marks 3 years since our beloved JoyAnna went to heaven at age 12. It's very surreal. Truly. We had signed up to go to Joni and Friends family retreat and been accepted to attend that year, 2019. We were so very excited to go to a family retreat that celebrated and loved on families impacted by disability.
Imagine our shock when the Lord took JoyAnna home to be with Him one month before we were to attend. We were in mourning and broken and God for sure directed us to still go. So we did. What a blessing to us. We met a Mennonite foster Mom named Barbara and her precious foster daughter Ashlin. God clearly showed Barbara that we were to be Ashlin's adoptive family. We agreed, and we started the process to get to know them, and then to be relicensed as foster parents in order to do the inter-state adoption as Ashlin resided in Maine.
God has been sooooooo good to us! What does the future hold for our family? What is God's plan, we don't know, but we continue to press on in this work He has given us, shining for Him as we go!
This week our daughter Nicole is at Submarine school for Sea Cadets! She is sooooooo excited for it!
And so now, as I write this, I am preparing to take Peppy up to Children's hospital in Lebanon, NH, to have her tonsils and adenoids out. She will recover in the PICU due to her severe sleep apnea as well as her low muscle tone from her Down's Syndrome.
I must say that it's a bit bitter sweet to be taking her on the anniversary of JoyAnna's angelversary, but that is how God worked it out.
Sure do covet your prayers! I promise, I will be in touch again soon!
