A Work Day at Winslow Farm--Deerfield

"Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” Ephesians 6:2-3

Each year we LOVE to honor Glenn's parents by bringing our whole crew over for the day and getting their firewood ready for the coming winter, and each year they continue to be totally amazed that we would take a day out of our busy schedule and love on them in this way! We feel like it's a true way to show Christ's love to them. On this day each year, Winslow Mountain is our mission field! It's truly a way to "bloom where God has planted us"---as my sign in my Fall display says.

And so this year we arrived there...just the kids and I. Glenn's work has been so busy that he couldn't come. He had already cut and split 6 cords of wood and so we just needed to stack it.

We started with filling their wood shed. It holds about 3 cords or wood. Glenn's sister Wendy helped us for the day. We made a chain and passed the wood in!

When we got that filled, we also filled the indoor wood box in the kitchen.

Then we took a lunch break. Wendy made a wonderful soup and some bread. Yum! After that, we started to stack the remaining wood on pallets outside for it to dry and be ready to go!

Rosie rode in the back pack on me for the morning, and then spent the afternoon outside with us in her stroller. She even fell asleep during the rain. It was really cute!

Here are the girls with the finished 3 cords of stacked wood!

No visit to Grampa's farm would be complete without a visit to the animals in the barn. Here is one of the new calves.

There are 3 pigs, too! And no...they aren't the 3 "little" pigs. They are getting big!

So...be willing to serve and it's amazing to allow God to show us where He wants us and where our mission field is each day!
